Be Strong in Holiness
Key Verses: 1 Peter 1:15-16 says "But as he which called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
Do you believe God loved us enough to set a standard for us to live by? The book of 1 Peter specifically teaches us how we can live right in a world that is wrong.
For most Christians, holiness is a misunderstood term, a level we cannot attain in a world like the one in which we live.
Holiness is to be like Christ. It is our God, by His presence in our lives, who separates us from the world. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, He came to live in us, His desire is to transform us.
Three simple things that will help us:
Be Holy in Your Mind...give attention to your mind, be concerned about what you see and hear. Giving attention to the mind means protecting what passes through the gates that lead to it. Most of us can never make it past our uncontrolled thought life...I once heard a preacher say, "the Bible will keep you from sin, and sin will keep you from the Bible." HOW TRUE!
Be Holy in Your Manner...the manner of our lives should be Christ-like. Others should be able to see that there is something different in our lives because of what God has done for us (I am so ashamed sometimes of how I act). "Not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts."
Be Holy In Your Motives...we are to live a holy life for our Lord. Our motive for everything we are and do should be for Jesus Christ. Because He loves us and we love Him, we should serve Him and live for Him. No where in God's Word does He command us to be happy, but He commands us to be HOLY!
