March 8"Hear Us,Our God"Read:Psalm 20:6-9

“Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.” Psalm 20:6-9

I know that the world in which we live today, much of the time, is not a very pleasant place. Every time we turn around it forces us to listen to its depressing filth, the lies that satan spreads through TV, the internet and radio, gossip, and any other place we can imagine. With so many people we know on the verge of losing – or having already lost – their house, job, spouse, car or kids, it’s hard not to believe those lies. It’s not hard to get nervous about losing your job when the place you work is slow and there are four people calling every day who are willing to do your job for less money. A lot of times when I read from the Psalms I can’t help but try to imagine where David was and what he was doing when he wrote a particular passage. No doubt when David was being pursued by Saul through the desert, not knowing what the next day would bring, he probably thought his world was coming to an end, too. I’m even willing to go out on a limb and say that sometimes even David needed some encouragement.

We are blessed today to have access to some encouraging words written by David and inspired by God. We as Christians need to remember something – we serve a strong God. He has the power to bring us through hard times. He will not fail us, but we’ve got to stay focused on Him and only Him. “Now I know that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven, with the saving strength of his right hand.”

We as Christians are God’s anointed. When we pray, He hears us…ALWAYS. And in His perfect time His strong hand comes down from heaven and moves in our situation. I’m glad that, unlike the world, we don’t have to put our trust in chariots, horses, money, alcohol or pills. We can trust in the name of a powerful, miracle-working name – Jesus!

In verse eight we are given the promise that we as Christians will stand upright when the world falls. Satan uses every trick in the book against us. We’ve got to stay focused on God and ask Him to direct us in making our decisions.

Verse nine says, “Let the king hear us when we call.” But He won’t hear us if we don’t call. I encourage you to call to the King of Kings. Ask Him to help you with your marriage, finances, job, kids, church, and – most of all – your spiritual walk with God. And make a habit of doing it every day.
